The Spring Equinox symbolizes rebirth, inviting us to embrace growth and transformation. It's a time to reflect on our intentions and embody the energy of renewal that the season brings. As nature awakens, we too can take steps to cultivate our personal growth and shed the weight of winter.
For this special time of year, we adapted our in-person Somatic Experiencing® (SE™) intensive to create a unique 4-week online experience that will harness the tools and wisdom of Somatic Experiencing while offering complimentary modalities that support mind-body healing.
Sacred Restoration is designed to support individuals seeking relief from PTSD, C-PTSD, professional burnout, chronic pain, anxiety, depression, overwhelm and other trauma and stress-related conditions. Sacred Restoration supports the journey home to ourselves by facilitating nervous system regulation and inviting us to befriend our bodies as allies in healing trauma. Whether you’re feeling anxious, depressed, disconnected, overwhelmed, exhausted, or stuck in cycles of pain, this program equips you with resources that extend far beyond our time together, supporting sustainable healing and lasting resilience.

Peter Levine, Ph.D., is a pioneer in the field of Somatic Psychology and Trauma. He is the Father of Somatic Experiencing® and author of Waking the Tiger, among other books. He holds doctorates in both Biophysics and Psychology. He is the Founder and President of the Ergos Institute for Somatic Education and the Founder and Advisor for Somatic Experiencing® International.

We’ve curated a set of simple, repeatable Somatic Experiencing-based interventions—our SE™ Toolkit—that foster self-regulation and reduce symptoms of traumatic stress. Rooted in the foundational SE principles of titration, pendulation, sensory awareness, orienting, grounding, presence, and resourcing, these tools will be woven into every aspect of our online retreat.

Our online portal offers trauma healing resources, program information and recordings to support your trauma healing journey.

To support healing and post retreat integration you will have one year of unlimited online access to the program recordings.

To increase the experience of support, safety, and belonging, participants will have the option to join a social resourcing group that aligns with their background and identity. These groups include LGBTQ+, BIPOC, Transgender, Military Veterans, Police Officers, Firefighters, Specific Nationalities or English as second language groups. Groups will be generated based on request in the registration form.

An integral part of healing trauma is understanding how the nervous system informs our minds, bodies and spirits and how it relates to our ability to heal experiences of emotional and physical pain.
Daily group SE sessions will assist our understanding of how the nervous system functions and how trauma is stored in the body. We will learn the core concepts of Somatic Experiencing and practice the Somatic Experiencing toolkit exercises for nervous system regulation and self-healing in a small group setting.

Social Presencing Theater helps cultivate personal embodied presence through guided practices that include mindfulness, movement and reflection. Listening to
our body to work with places where we feel that our own creative energy and resilience are being blocked.
Social Presencing Theater can provide a strong ground for sensing into ourselves and into our contexts – trusting our embodied experience of both our present situation and emerging possibilities. This will lead to fresh insights, an ability to prototype creative ways of moving forward, and the courage to extend kindness and compassion to the family systems and communities we care so deeply about. Alexandra Whitney, PhD, SEP (she/her)
My personal encounter with complex and medical trauma revealed a difficult truth: the path is arduous, and true sanctuaries for somatic-based trauma healing are rare. Fueled by this lived experience and my longing to find a place to heal, I was compelled to create my own nurturing space—a holistic Somatic Experiencing program immersed in nature—to serve as a guiding resource for others on a similar path.
In 2018, this vision led to a formative collaboration with Dr. Peter A. Levine to develop a specialized Somatic Experiencing protocol for military-related PTSD. I have since served as the Retreat Director for Dr. Levine’s landmark "Returning Home" retreat, and lead as Principal Investigator for "The Returning Home Project," a quantitative research study born from our 2019 Returning Home retreat in Northport, Maine.
I am an SEI-approved Assistant for SE trainings and Dr. Levine’s Master Classes, In my private practice and group work, I integrate Somatic Experiencing® with my background in Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, Herbalism, Buddhist Psychology, Meditation, and Social Presencing Theater.
I hold a Ph.D. in East-West Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies.

Emma Schurink, BA, SEP, CLC, (she/her)
Emma is a healing and empowerment facilitator, supporting people in restoring their vital rhythms and embodying their authentic Self. She is a Certified Life Coach (CLC) and Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner (SEP). Emma also has years of experience organizing and coordinating for non-profits and community initiatives. She loves to make things happen, especially healing and empowering opportunities. She earned her BA in Sociology from Kenyon College and minored in Visual Arts. Additionally, Emma creates charcoal drawings of trees and the natural world. You can view her artwork here.

Annie Blair ,(she/her) uses body-based awareness practices to support personal and collective change processes. She works with individuals and small groups. Her background includes Processwork’s Deep Democracy methods and the practice of Authentic Movement.
Carol Zahner, (she/her) has a multi-disciplinary career in Human Factors Engineering, Aquaculture, small business, and psychotherapy. She is co-founder of Processwork Latinoamérica and adjunct faculty with La Escuela de Trabajo de Procesos in Barcelona and the Process Work Institute in Oregon. Authentic Movement and artistic expression have been constant threads in her life and work. Her current research also includes ways of working that honor cultural differences and somatic approaches to trauma.

Marcy Pollitt - LCSW-R, SEP, EMDR, HVPI, Psychodrama Practitioner (she/her)
Marcy is an experienced practitioner of Somatic Experiencing (SE), EMDR and Psychodrama. She uses body based action methods to bring clients into the heart of their stories.
Psychodrama is a rich modality that naturally integrates with Somatic Experiencing. By inviting clients to show their stories through reversing roles with characters in their lives, both interpersonal and intra-psychic, clients quickly come into the somatic senses of the character in their personal narrative. Once we become embodied into the memory, we are more easily able to tune into our senses. and begin to heal the wounds in our hearts and in our relationships by unraveling the knots that prevent us from being settled in our bodies and present. We have the power to rewrite our story by bringing in the healed self.
When Psychodrama and SE are woven together it enables a rich and engaging healing process that facilitates the re-organization of our lived experience with a renewed sense of empowerment, self love, and a deeper connection with ourselves and our loved ones.

Lynn Teo, LAc, MSc, DACM (she/they)
Lynn has worked in complementary medicine for over 20 years. As a licensed acupuncturist and shiatsu therapist, Lynn specializes in trauma healing, stress, anxiety, chronic pain, and chronic conditions. Focusing on cultivating resilience and burnout / trauma recovery, Lynn is completing her training to be a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP). She holds an MAOM from the New England School of Acupuncture and a doctorate in acupuncture and Chinese medicine from the Pacific College of Health and Science. As well, she is the resident acupuncturist at Foundation House in Portland, Maine.
She trained as a yoga teacher in the Scaravelli tradition of Esther Myers (750 hour) and has been teaching yoga, Vipassana meditation and somatic awareness for over 25 years and focuses on teaching embodied practices for radical rest, resilience, and trauma / burnout recovery particularly for helpers, healers, artists, and activists. She brings her background in theatre and clown to her classes, encouraging curiosity and playfulness as a means to cultivate embodied wisdom, resilience and joy.
As a researcher, Lynn has published several systematic reviews on complementary medicine. She holds and MSc in pain studies from Tufts University School of Medicine where she focused on the effect of empathy and mindfulness within the patient-practitioner relationship.

Pernilla Smith, J.D (she/her)
Since 2011 Pernilla has been the student of a Chinese Tea Art Master in Malaysia. She has been a traveler, tea seeker and meditator in the remote regions of Nepal, Tibet and Malaysia. She currently is a lawyer and appreciates tea in Sweden while her heart belongs in Asia. She is completing her first book on the art of tea communication.

With a lifelong passion for visual storytelling, Nina has been deeply engaged in photography and video production since her teenage years. In 2000, she discovered Miksang Contemplative Photography, a practice that profoundly shifted her perspective and approach to seeing the world. This transformative experience led her to become a certified Miksang teacher in 2005.
Today, contemplative photography remains a cornerstone of her daily practice, significantly shaping her work as a creative portrait photographer and videographer based near Munich, Germany.
Nina’s academic journey includes a Bachelor of Arts in Theater and a Master of Arts in Buddhist Studies with a focus on Dharma Art from Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado.
At the heart of her work lies a deep appreciation for the intersection of mindfulness, creativity, and self-expression. Nina seamlessly weaves these elements into her practice as a Life Coach, where she offers self-empowerment tools designed for women. She views healing as a journey of self-discovery and creative expression—a process that harmonizes the awakened mind with the awakened heart.
Through her photography and coaching, Nina invites others to embrace their authentic presence. She sees the camera not merely as a device for capturing images, but as a powerful mirror for self-reflection and personal transformation.

Alex Papaconstantinou (She/her)
Grounded in multidisciplinary trauma trainings, Alex is a Somatic Educator and Bodyworker who offers psychobiological nervous system education and trauma resolution touch work. She is committed to ensuring her clients develop an understanding about their bodies and wellness experientially, and is passionate about supporting them in resolving chronic and pervasive experiences of unwanted symptoms.

Eve Hermann, SEP, LMT (she/her)
Eve is a licensed massage therapist, somatic experiencing practitioner and craniosacral therapy practitioner. She has been in practice since 2007. She works with clients pulling together SE and craniosacral therapy and transformational touch to help decrease and relieve pain and decrease physiological trauma responses. Her work decreases the effects of strain and stress that lead to inflammation, tension, and discomfort.
She facilitates workshops to educate and engage others on topics such as the polyvagal theory, presence practices, and creative self-care. She is an independent dance artist and has performed professionally with Columbus Moving Company, SeaBus Dance Company, & in other independent productions. Her guiding purpose is supporting the health, vitality and creativity of humans everywhere.
Her work is anti-racist, feminist, and LGTBQIA+ affirming. All of which is a continual, ongoing, and never-ending learning curve.

Betsy Kudlinski, SEP, she/they
In her current iteration, Betsy is an SEP and SE training assistant. She splits her time in front of the Zoom screen between working with individuals and groups, weaving SE and life coaching together to call herself a Freedom Guide and her work in the world, Renaturing.
Before coming to coaching or SE, Betsy lived for working with animals and in nature. She spent 35 years working professionally with animals, starting with horses. After gaining a BS in Animal Science, she went on to work for six years at a zoo, spending time with every creature the zoo exhibited- and some they didn't. After that, she walked dogs, pet-sat, trained horses, and spent almost a decade with herds of goats, cows, pigs, sheep, and chickens.
Now, she combines her knowledge of animal nervous systems and behavior with her passion for natural history and climate to guide people through the thicket of somaticized trauma and socialization so they can become more resilient in this crazy world, increasing their nervous system capacity and resolving trauma along the way. Her embodied, experiential understanding of animals and herds has been pivotal to her ability to work with humans, the "ultimate" animal (who usually believe themselves to be above such base instincts).
She lives in a log cabin in the woods of Vermont, with her three dogs, parrot, and tens of thousands of honeybees.


Who I am is a constant discovery.
I am trained as a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP) and weave Health Coaching into my practice as needed or desired from clients.
Just like you, my story is rich and filled with many internal battles I fought hard to overcome — from childhood sex abuse, loss of a sibling to suicide, and decades of my own suicidal ideation and attempts, to debilitating chronic illness and abusive mom rage.
I have been obsessed desperate determined to heal my trauma so that my children, and future generations, don’t have to do as much work as I did — that’s my hope anyway.
I’m a stay-at-home un-schooling mom who loves to find peace and beauty in the simple things. I enjoy the natural world around us most — huckleberry picking, mushroom hunting, rock hounding, rafting, wandering in the forest and hiking creeks.
I’m barefoot shoes obsessed, treat my daily coffee enemas as my meditation time and am quite dedicated to holistic healing and teaching.
I value conscious communication with others, bodily autonomy, and respect for one’s personal journey.

AnNi is also a licensed naturopath, a certified hypnotherapist, an NLP practitioner,
of Access Bars, HypnoBirthing® and HypnoDoula, a massage therapist, a Yoga Nidra teacher, a nutritionist, and a Baby Movement & Scuba Diving instructor, and creator of the Padi Zen Dive program.
Having recognized the need for greater community among new mothers, she leads prenatal and postpartum workshops, Mother-Baby retreats (Baby Yogi) and holistic Mother-Daughter retreats.

Levine (Developer of Somatic Experiencing) when they launched the Returning Home Project, a five-day Somatic Experiencing intensive retreat and associated research study for military veterans suffering from combat PTSD. The results of their research indicated that this treatment program had a meaningful impact, both clinically and statistically, with decreased clinical symptoms of PTSD, depression, anxiety, dissociation, and increased quality of life.
In 2021, Dr. Whitney and Dr. Michael Changaris (Research Consultant) presented their research findings at the Somatic Experiencing Conference. As well, in 2021, Dr. Whitney's Eightfold Path and Dr. Levine’s Ergos Institute for Somatic Education further refined the curriculum during Waking the Tiger, a seven-day Somatic Experiencing trauma healing intensive retreat for the general public. Sacred Restoration is the offspring of their Somatic Experiencing-based research and previous intensive trauma healing retreats.

The Somatic Experiencing® approach works directly with the autonomic nervous system by resolving persistent self protective responses of Fight, Flight, or Freeze. These tenacious physiological states of trauma are resolved by gently guiding clients to develop increasing tolerance for difficult bodily sensations and suppressed emotions. This helps the mind-body to release stored survival energy that results from traumatic shock, restoring the natural rhythm of the ANS, which is key to transforming PTSD and the trauma symptoms of hyperarousal (anxiety), shutdown (depression), and other chronic symptoms associated with nervous system dysregulation.

Sacred Restoration Online embraces a social model through which healing is created by the accumulated knowledge, collective experiences, wisdom and cohesiveness of both facilitators and participants. To enhance therapeutic support for each participant, we assign small "breakout" group mentoring sessions of no more than 10 participants.

Trauma healing is a process that can take time. We cannot guarantee complete healing and resolution of trauma related symptoms by the end of this online retreat. But, we are confident that it is an important first step and over the course of our five-week program our model will offer the tools that can help address the causes of trauma by regulating the nervous system, which can lead to a decrease of symptoms. Because we understand that trauma healing can take time we designed this program to include four-weeks of toolkit group practice to facilitate the healing process. Participants from our past in-person programs have reported feeling a positive shift even after their first group SE session. Participants have also reported feelings of hope for the first time, improved sleep, less anxious, less pain, less anger, less stressed and less overwhelmed, increased sense of inner peace, more connected to self and others. Our research indicates that our in person program may make a significant clinical difference by decreasing symptoms associated with PTSD.
The Somatic Experiencing® method is a body-oriented approach to healing trauma and other stress disorders. It is the life’s work of Peter A. Levine, PhD, resulting from his multidisciplinary study of stress physiology, ethology, biology, neuroscience, psychology, and indigenous healing practices, together with over 50 years of successful clinical application. The SE™ approach releases traumatic shock and restores connection, which is key to transforming PTSD and the wounds of emotional and early developmental attachment trauma. It offers a framework to assess where a person is “stuck” in the fight, flight or freeze responses and provides clinical tools to resolve these fixated physiological states.
